OBD Setup

Connect an OBD dongle to read & clear engine codes and view live metrics like RPM and engine temp. Pick your dongle type to get started.

Using an iPhone or iPad? Choose a Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) or WiFi dongle. Older Classic-Bluetooth dongles won't connect to iOS devices.

Locate your car's OBD port

Usually under the dashboard, near the steering column. Check the diagram for common locations.

Plug in the dongle

Insert the OBD dongle firmly into the port until it seats.

We recommend ELM327 dongles

Turn the ignition ON

Set the key to RUN / ON (engine on or off). This powers the OBD port.

Pair the dongle with your phone

On Android, open your phone's Bluetooth settings and pair the dongle first.

On iPhone & iPad, skip this step — don't pair. Just scan in ARI below.
Scan & connect

Make sure Bluetooth is on, then scan for your dongle and tap it to connect.

Plug in the dongle & turn ignition ON

Seat the dongle in the OBD port, then set the key to RUN / ON to power it.

Join the dongle's WiFi network

Open Settings › Wi-Fi and connect to the dongle's own network — usually named WIFI_OBDII, V-LINK, or similar.

Keep the connection when asked

This network has no internet. If your phone warns you, choose "Keep connection / Stay connected."

Return to ARI & connect

Keep ARI open and tap Connect below.

On iPhone & iPad, tap Allow if iOS asks to find devices on your local network.
Most WiFi dongles use 192.168.0.10 : 35000 — only change this if your dongle's manual says otherwise.
